Housing

Affordable housing is a keen national need, and a particular challenge for recent arrivals to the country as they struggle to gain a foothold and make a home in a new land.

MIN has partnered with the Church Properties Initiative in the FIRE Institute at ND to identify vacant and underutilized Church-owned facilities that could be repurposed for housing or training migrants, either temporarily or permanently. It is also recruiting investors to help fund these conversions. Candidates for both facilities and financing for a proof-of-concept pilot have been identified.

Other solutions to the complex problem of housing have also been explored in MIN, including pop-up shelters and novel approaches to mortgage financing.
