The University of Notre Dame can become the world leader in studying and advancing startup innovations that - specifically and intentionally - address the cries of the poor and the pains of our planet. It will do so by connecting technology-based startups with Notre Dame’s trusted network of service partners, such as Catholic Charities, to provide true reach, validation, and scale.

The MIN has executed two pilots since its inception, the Afghan arrivals under the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and the welcoming of Ukrainian citizens through the Uniting for Ukraine (U4U) program.

The American pullout from Afghanistan brought tens of thousands of Afghan refugees to the U.S. Through MIN, Jiseki onboarded nearly 5,000 Afghan refugees to its platform, 9% of the Afghan families in the U.S.

The second pilot was with Ukrainian parolees.  Three startups have been deployed tackling three needs: Job placement, English learning, and welcoming refugees.  Workforce Hope is bringing tech to streamline the process of legal migration and job placement. Speak2Day is a language learning app that teaches migrants enough English to secure a job. Welcomely is a platform that helps people become a sponsor for a refugee in the United States.

Today, MIN's work spans three major themes: Employment, Housing, and Supporters.
